The changing of the seasons

Hey guys! Happy OCTOBER!! Whoop!

With the leaves starting to change and the colder weather rolling in, I am super pumped to be in a new place to experience my favorite season! I missed last fall since I was studying abroad in Chile and went from summer to coming back to winter. Fall makes me so happy with all the orange red and yellow, pumpkins, hot chocolate, Halloween, ciders, good smells and last but not least the changing of the leaves. Natures way to lose its old self and restart back fresh in the spring. I also feel like that can apply to humans as well. This is the time in the year where we end up wrapping up big work projects, classes, and anything else life throws at you. It’s our time to reflect on how our year has gone and what we want to change/keep the same for the next one. This year was definitely an odd one for the entire world but as most of you know me I tend to find the good in about everything. Life is too short not to. In every situation there is both a good and bad, it’s just a matter of picking that out and going with it. Be happy. Smile. Enjoy yourself. Laugh. Go out with friends. Do whatever you think is best for yourself and don’t let anyone tell you different. You are the author to your own story. You write the words on the pages, not all the people around you. If you want a story you can look back on and smile about, you are the one that has to make that happen. Hopefully with all this time we’ve had to quarantine and now spending more time inside as it gets colder you can think back on this year and find all the GOOD. One of my favorite activities is to go back through my camera gallery to remind me what happened and write down in a journal or book how you were feeling during that picture/moment. What made you want to take that picture or go out with that friend? Now think about that same person/place/memory and reflect on the growth of you from that time to now. We move so fast in life that most often we forget to look back on the past and see how far we’ve come. Pat yourself on the back and give yourself some credit because you are here in the present and have achieved so much of what you wanted to do.

Here is a quote which I read the other day from my little book of happiness which is quite relevant. Remember… mind OVER matter!

Thoughts are powerful.

They shape the present and the future.

If you can think ‘happy’ you’ll be happy.

I miss all of my friends and family, and if you feel like you want to share your favorite thing about fall I would absolutely love to hear from you! Send me your favorite place to sit and read, or your favorite candle smell, your favorite food, or literally anything that makes you do that weird smile when no one is around.

Stay safe, keep warm, and remember… don’t stop adventuring!

The Zoo is looking quite good – though could use some more leaf color if you ask me
A little taste of Oktoberfest
Food and Friends
Lake Michigan in now my backyard like whaaaat
